Virginia & Kevin || An NC State Wedding in Raleigh

Kevin and Virginia had a sweet and intimate wedding ceremony in a private wedding garden; it was filled with laughter and emotion, and was deeply personal. The minister read out letters that Virginia and Kevin had written to each other, and aside from being full of jokes that showcased just how fun these two's marriage will be, the letters didn't leave a dry eye in the area. The wedding party was made up of fun and sweet folks who made us feel like we were part of the crowd, and Virginia and Kevin's custom playlist at the reception ensured that the party was hoppin' and everyone had tons of fun. Enjoy this selection of images from their sweet and beautiful wedding day! More on Facebook.

Ceremony Location: Kayelily's Wedding Garden
Portrait Location: NC State Campus, Court of Carolinas
Event Coordinators: C&D Events
Cupcakes: Edible Art

Thought I'd include the following little gem as well, paired with one from Virginia and Kevin's engagement session. Their plan, as far as I understand it, is to make this an eventual triptych: one from the engagement session ("First comes love..."), one from their wedding ("...then comes marriage..."), and one from a future maternity session ("...then comes the baby in the baby carriage.") What a cute idea, right?

Alisha & Greg || Love at Home in Carrboro

Alisha got in touch with me to do an at-home session for her and Greg's first wedding anniversary. They had recently moved to Carrboro and wanted to share their new home--and town!--with their friends and family back up North. They ate anniversary cupcakes (in place of the top tier of their wedding cake--how cute is that?), snuggled with their super cute dog, Porter, and were just generally adorable walking around downtown Carrboro to some of Alisha's favorite murals. We also managed to incorporate some beautiful fall colors--we were lucky they still remained at the beginning of November! Enjoy this selection from Alisha and Greg's lovely anniversary session. Crystal || American Tobacco Campus Portraits

Crystal is a fellow alumna of the Queens University of Charlotte MFA, my wonderful program. Her kids, Cameron and Sidney, are adorable, her poems are striking and honest, and she herself is awesome. I'm always glad to provide my fellow Queens alums with new author photos! Her book, Routes Home, is available from Finishing Line Press; there are more of her images on Facebook.

Cameron & Sidney || American Tobacco Campus Portraits

Cameron and Sidney are too dang cute for words. They were so well mannered that it took every trick in my arsenal to get them even giggling for me! (It was the monster faces that did the trick, and imitating the silly faces their mom and I were making.) They are very pleasant and polite young men, and I know their mama is very proud of them. Enjoy their images! More on Facebook.

Tom & Mel || A Yates Mill Park Engagement

Tom and Mel are my very dear friends from college, and I could not be more excited that they're getting married next year! While our whole friend group was camping together a couple of summers ago (and before I seriously got MKM in motion), I shot a few impromptu portraits of Mel and Tom and showed them the shots in-camera, saying something like, "See?! When you guys finally get engaged, you have to let me take your engagement photos!" When they started planning a trip down to Durham for the end of October, Mel emailed me to ask, "Were you serious about that?", to which I said, "Of course!" We ended up with a gorgeous, if slightly chilly, afternoon for their session at Yates Mill (since they're not from the Triangle, we just picked the prettiest location!), which Mike and I shot together, and I am so excited to share these images with everyone. I'm even more excited that my wonderful friends are happy together, and can't wait for their wedding next year! More on Facebook.
